Introduction to Pronouns
Pronouns are words that replace nouns to avoid repetition. They can refer to people, places, things, or ideas.
Personal Pronouns
- First person: I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, ours
- Second person: you, your, yours
- Third person: he, him, his, she, her, hers, it, its, they, them, their, theirs
Examples:
- I went to the store.
- You should eat more vegetables.
- He is a good friend.
- She likes to read books.
- It is a beautiful day.
- They are going to the party.
Demonstrative Pronouns
- This, that, these, those
Examples:
- This is my book.
- That is a beautiful flower.
- These are my friends.
- Those are my books.
Interrogative Pronouns
- Who, whom, whose, which, what
Examples:
- Who is that?
- Whom did you meet?
- Whose is this book?
- Which one do you prefer?
- What are you doing?
Relative Pronouns
- Who, whom, which, that, whose
Examples:
- The man who lives next door is a doctor.
- The book that I am reading is very interesting.
- The woman whose car is parked outside is my neighbor.
Indefinite Pronouns
- Everyone, everybody, everything, someone, somebody, something, anyone, anybody, anything, no one, nobody, nothing, one, another, other
Examples:
- Everyone should be treated with respect.
- Somebody stole my wallet.
- Nothing is impossible.
