Introduction to Simple Future Tense (Regular and Irregular Verbs)

The simple future tense is used to describe actions or events that will happen in the future.

Simple Future Tense: Basic Structure

  • Affirmative Sentences: Subject + will + base form of the verb
    • Example: I will walk to school.
  • Negative Sentences: Subject + will not (won’t) + base form of the verb
    • Example: I will not (won’t) walk to school.
  • Interrogative Sentences: Will + subject + base form of the verb?
    • Example: Will you walk to school?

Simple Future Tense (for Regular and Irregular Verbs)

The formation of the simple future tense is straightforward and identical for both regular and irregular verbs, as it uses “will” + base form of the verb.

Affirmative Sentences

  • Structure: Subject + will + base form of the verb
    • Example: She will play soccer tomorrow.

Negative Sentences

  • Structure: Subject + will not (won’t) + base form of the verb
    • Example: We will not (won’t) watch TV tonight.

Interrogative Sentences

  • Structure: Will + subject + base form of the verb?
    • Example: Will you study English tomorrow?

Examples

Regular Verbs

  • Affirmative: I will walk to the park. / She will enjoy the movie.
  • Negative: They will not (won’t) talk to the manager. / He will not (won’t) finish his homework.
  • Interrogative: Will you invite your friends? / Will she reply to the email?

Irregular Verbs
