Types of Sentences: Simple, Compound, and Complex
1. Simple Sentence: A simple sentence contains one independent clause. It expresses a complete thought.
- Example: The cat is sleeping.
2. Compound Sentence: A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (and, but, or, so, yet, nor, for).
- Example: The cat is sleeping, and the dog is playing.
3. Complex Sentence: A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses joined by a subordinating conjunction (after, although, because, if, since, when, while, etc.).
- Example: Because the cat is sleeping, the dog is playing.
