Using Adjectives in Sentences

Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns. They provide more information about the person, place, thing, or idea being referred to.

Here are some examples of how to use adjectives in sentences:

Descriptive adjectives:

  • The big dog barked loudly.
  • She is a beautiful woman.
  • The red car is parked outside.

Quantifying adjectives:

  • We have many friends.
  • There are few people in the park.
  • I ate some pizza.

Demonstrative adjectives:

  • This is my book.
  • That is a beautiful flower.
  • These are my friends.
  • Those are my books.

Possessive adjectives:

  • His car is red.
  • Her name is Maria.

You can use adjectives before the noun they modify or after a linking verb:
