Common Adjectives in English

Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns. Here are some common adjectives used in English:

Descriptive Adjectives:

  • Size: big, small, large, tiny, huge
  • Color: red, blue, green, yellow, black, white
  • Shape: round, square, triangular, oval, rectangular
  • Age: old, young, new, ancient, modern
  • Quality: good, bad, nice, terrible, wonderful
  • Condition: wet, dry, hot, cold, soft, hard

Quantifying Adjectives:

  • Many, much: used with countable and uncountable nouns, respectively.
  • Few, little: used with countable and uncountable nouns, respectively.
  • Several, a few, a little: used to indicate a small quantity.
  • A lot of, lots of: used to indicate a large quantity.

Demonstrative Adjectives:

  • This, that: used to point out things near or far.
  • These, those: used to point out plural things near or far.

Possessive Adjectives:

  • My, your, his, her, its, our, their: used to show ownership.
