Using Simple Present Tense

The simple present tense is used to describe actions that happen regularly or are always true. It is often used to talk about habits, routines, and facts.

Usage

Forming the Simple Present Tense:

  • For most verbs: Use the base form of the verb.

  • For third-person singular (he, she, it): Add -s or -es to the base form.
    • Example: (to eat) He eats, she eats, it eats

Negative Form:

  • Use do not (don’t) or does not (doesn’t) followed by the base form of the verb.

Question Form:

  • Use do or does followed by the subject and the base form of the verb.
